What is aerosol photometer
The installed filter leakage test aerosol photometer is a precision optoelectronic instrument designed to detect and measure the concentration of airborne suspended particles. It is specifically used for precision testing to verify the installation integrity of High-Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) and Ultra-Low Particulate Air (ULPA) filters in cleanrooms, biosafety cabinets, and HVAC systems. The instrument is primarily used for on-site verification of the integrity of installed HEPA/ULPA filters and their sealing frames, ensuring that no aerosol leakage occurs.

Aerosol Photometer Working Principle
Upstream Aerosol Generation: A test aerosol (such as PAO, DEHS, or DOP particles) with a specific concentration and particle size distribution is introduced via an aerosol generator at the inlet side (upstream) of the HEPA filter.
Light Scattering Measurement: The instrument draws in air through a sampling probe and utilizes the principle of light scattering; as the particle-laden airflow passes through the photometer’s dark chamber, the particles scatter the light source, and the instrument converts this scattered light into electrical signals using a photomultiplier tube or photodiode.
Leak Detection: Penetration rate is calculated by comparing upstream and outlet-side (downstream) concentrations or by directly scanning the downstream frame and filter media surface. If the detected penetration rate exceeds the established standard limit (typically 0.01%), a physical breach or seal leak is indicated.
Aerosol Photometer Applications

Pharmaceutical Industry: HVAC validation for sterile cleanrooms, pass-through boxes, laminar flow hoods, and HVAC systems.
Healthcare: Hospital operating rooms, biosafety cabinets (BSCs), and isolators.
High-tech and Nuclear Industries: Semiconductor wafer fabs, nuclear facilities, and other controlled environments with extremely stringent air cleanliness requirements.
